A Weekend to Remember for our Autism Acceptance Month Raffle Winner

Competition winner Jo and her family have shared their experience of a well-deserved weekend away after winning a three-night stay with Meadow Bay Villages through a competition supporting Autism Hampshire.

Following their stay, Jo got in touch to tell us about the difference the weekend had made to her family.

“We have just returned and have had the most wonderful weekend! It was really nice to have a weekend away, spend quality time together, do things together that we haven’t done for a long time and just not have to worry for the weekend.”

A weekend for the whole family

During their stay, the family made the most of everything on offer, including swimming, disc golf, French boules, and evening entertainment, as well as a visit to a local fair and soft play.

Most importantly, they also found ways to make the break work for their family's individual needs.

The family hired Meadow Bay’s Zen Den, which was available free of charge, to provide a space suited to the sensory needs of Jo’s youngest daughter.

Her verdict?

“It was amazing.”

Jo also highlighted some of the smaller details that helped make their stay easier, including reliable WiFi when iPad time was needed for regulation and even an air fryer in their holiday home, which came in particularly handy for cooking familiar “beige foods”.

Jo said:

“We were given a bronze three-bedroom caravan that was perfect for our family’s needs. It was very clean and had plenty of room for us all.”

After a weekend of activities, entertainment and, for Jo, some evening bingo, the family is already hoping to return.

“We definitely will be returning!”

Supporting Autism Hampshire

The competition was run in support of Autism Hampshire, helping to raise awareness of our work supporting autistic people and their families across Hampshire, including Southampton and Portsmouth.

We’re delighted that the prize allowed Jo and her family to enjoy some quality time together and create new memories.
