22nd November 2024
In September we were delighted to recognise Lisa McManus, Assistant Service Manager at one of our Fareham services, as our Employee of the Month.
Lisa’s dedication and support are nothing short of inspiring, as her colleague’s nomination illustrates: “Lisa is fantastic. She works so hard to help everyone under her services, even when she's exhausted or on her day off.
“She deserves recognition for always going above and beyond, as well as for being there for her team through everything. I wouldn’t be half the support worker I am now without her guidance, and I am so grateful.
“She’s a lovely person and an amazing team leader - I know I speak for many when I say how glad we are to have her looking over our services.”
Lisa’s journey with Autism Hampshire
Lisa’s path to Autism Hampshire started in education as a practitioner and a Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) for children. She felt a natural shift toward adult social care before joining Autism Hampshire in April 2018 as a Support Worker.
In March 2024, she moved up to Senior Support Worker and in May this year, she stepped into her current role as Assistant Service Manager, bringing her wealth of experience and passion to the team.
Reflecting on her work, Lisa said: "I have always enjoyed my work, supporting people with their everyday lives and accessing the community. I always say to staff, if you make the effort, you will get it back tenfold for sure.
“I find it a very rewarding job and I have happily advocated for everyone that I have supported, even staff that I have worked with.”
Lisa also expressed gratitude for her nomination: “I'd like to thank the support worker who nominated me. I know that we all strive to work to the best of our abilities, sometimes we're tired or having a stressful day, however, a smile, a point or even a sound from the people we support can brighten anyone's day. So to receive such a lovely nomination makes all the hard work worthwhile.”
Please join us in celebrating Lisa, whose hard work, compassion, and commitment to excellence make her truly deserving of this recognition.
