Autism Hampshire’s Festive 5k event in December boosted the charity’s coffers by almost £750, with one young participant raising £345 from family and friends for taking part.
It was the first event of its kind organised by us and we were pleased to attract almost 100 runners/walkers who all completed their own 5k route around Stubbington in beautiful December sunshine with more than a touch of frost.
At the finish line at Holy Rood Church the runners made a beeline for Queenie’s vintage caravan to warm up with a hot drink, before heading into the church hall to collect their gorgeous Christmas tree medals, that had been kindly supplied by the Crofton Lions.
Autism Hampshire’s fundraising lead Lizzie Nash said, “It was a lot of fun and well supported”. She continued, “We plan to repeat the event next year, so I hope we’ll have many more taking part.”
