Success for Marathon Runners in London

6th August 2024

Applications are now open for people to run the 2025 London Marathon on behalf of Autism Hampshire.

The news follows the success of dedicated runners at this year’s TCS London Marathon who successfully raised over £11,000.

This significant achievement reflects the commitment and generosity of our participants and supporters.

On Sunday, 21st April, six exceptional individuals - Lewis, Martin, Tracey, Maureen, Angus, and Ranthir - took on the challenge of the London Marathon, each motivated by personal connections and a shared dedication to our cause.

We are pleased to report that all participants completed the race, demonstrating remarkable perseverance and commitment.

Maureen Grant fulfilled a bucket-list dream by running the marathon while raising funds for Autism Hampshire. She said: "Running the marathon has been a dream for the longest time. Being able to fulfil that dream while raising money for Autism Hampshire has been amazing.

“At 38km, when I thought I couldn’t make it, thinking about the sponsorship we raised helped push me across the finish line. I might be mad, but I’d do it all again. Thanks to Autism Hampshire for giving me the chance to make this dream come true."

Angus Grant, who supported Maureen throughout the journey, expressed his gratitude for the community’s support. He said: "The last few months have been tough, with many hours spent pounding along the local roads, pushing further each time.

“This is my second marathon, and it wasn’t any easier, but knowing we were doing this for a great cause, and having friends and neighbours cheering us on, made all the difference. Thank you to everyone at Autism Hampshire for the support, not only for the marathon but throughout everything else too."

Ranthir Rathore achieved a long-held ambition by completing the London Marathon. He said: "I aimed to fulfil a lifetime ambition by completing the marathon and raising funds for a wonderful charity that helps people understand autism and supports them from diagnosis to care. Please give as generously as you can to an underfunded area of health."

For Lewis Crowley, participating in the marathon held deep personal significance. He said: "It was an honour to run the London Marathon for Autism Hampshire, a charity close to my heart. I wanted to do my bit to help others like my son and their families who need the support, so I am glad I have been able to do that."

The funds raised by our marathon runners are essential in enabling Autism Hampshire to continue supporting autistic individuals and their families across Hampshire.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to our runners for their hard work and determination, and to all who contributed to this remarkable achievement.
