Add a scavenger hunt, face-painting, and other fun activities, and you have a great day out for all the family.
Our latest fundraiser provided just that when around 40 people and several excited dogs joined us on Sunday 25th September for the Woodland Trail event - a lovely walk through the glorious grounds and woodlands of New Place Hotel in Shirrell Heath.
The day was blessed with good weather – sunny with just a chill in the air to remind us that autumn is on the way, which was echoed in the woodland foliage colours.
The majority of the participants were family groups, so a good number of children took part, enthusiastically searching for scavenger hunt items such as acorns, twigs, fern bushes and tree stumps. A few young ladies even found a friendly woodland character called Stumpy and posed for a picture!
In addition to walking the Woodland Trail, there were fun games and colourful and creative crafts to take part in, an activity which was particularly popular with the youngsters. And children and adults alike loved their individual brown bag of snacks provided by the hotel.
After such a successful day, we must thank New Place Hotel for hosting us. The Director of Sales, Jon Fisher, said it was a pleasure to support “the wonderful Autism Hampshire team by providing the venue for the Woodland Trail and the tasty snack bags.” He continued “It is so important to engage with and partner these community and charity-led events because they provide a wonderful experience for the guests and generate critical funds to allow groups such as Autism Hampshire to deliver their special services.”
Finally, we want to thank the organisations that donated various prizes, including some vouchers for a well-known toy store, for our raffle that helped to boost the funds raised on the day.
And a big thank you to everyone who came along and enjoyed the event. We really value your support, as well as the support of staff and volunteers who made the event happen.
