We’re excited to be planning Autism Acceptance Week 2025, taking place from Monday 31st March to Sunday 6th April 2025!

This year, we’ll be focusing on promoting and encouraging genuine acceptance and understanding of being autistic, challenging misconceptions, and celebrating neurodiversity in a way that emphasises positive change in local communities.

Autism through lived experiences

Every autistic person’s journey is unique. This Autism Acceptance Week, hear directly from autistic individuals as they share their personal experiences. These powerful stories offer insight into the diverse experiences of autistic people. 

We will be adding links here once they are live.

  • Gary Robertson is a Serendipity Community Group member who was diagnosed with autism at 53. Through music and community, he’s found a way to express his experiences and the importance of acceptance. 
  • Sarah Clark has recently joined Autism Hampshire’s Oliver McGowan training team and has a passion for making healthcare accessible for everyone. Sarah only started considering she may be autistic during a recent MSc course and was diagnosed aged 37.

Wear purple for autism acceptance: Tuesday 2nd April

On World Autism Awareness Day, we're asking you to wear purple! Whether you’re in the office, at school, or anywhere - wear purple to show your support for autism acceptance. Why not make it a fundraiser and ask everyone to donate a £1?

Art Auction and Exhibition: Thursday 3rd April at 7pm

Come and join us for our Art Auction & Exhibition Autism Acceptance Week 2025.

Enjoy an inspiring evening showcasing incredible artwork donated by talented local artists. The exhibition will feature a wide range of pieces, with the opportunity to place your bids via eBay. All proceeds will go towards improving the lives of autistic people across Hampshire.

An online catalogue will be available via the event page here for you to explore the artwork and prepare your bids.

Ask our experts: Your questions answered

Our training team is producing a special video tackling your most pressing questions and common myths about autism.

Do you have a question about autism that you’ve always wanted answered? Or have you heard a common misconception that needs busting? Now’s your chance to get expert insights!

Our trainers have expertise in areas including:

  • Thinking
  • Communication
  • Sensory differences
  • Stress and anxiety
  • Stimming
  • Access to health and social care

We welcome questions from everyone - whether you're autistic, a family member, a professional, or simply interested in learning more. Send your questions to trainingadmin@autismhampshire.org.uk. Deadline for Submissions: Friday 7th March 2025.

The final video will be published on our YouTube channel and shared across our social media platforms during Autism Acceptance Week. Let’s open up the conversation and promote real understanding!

As part of Autism Acceptance Week, our Information, Advice and Guidance team has created a quick quiz to challenge common myths and misconceptions about autism. 

From sensory needs to social interaction, this quiz will help you separate fact from fiction and deepen your understanding.
