The Cedar School is a maintained special school in Nursling, Southampton for children aged 3-16 with complex physical, health and learning difficulties.

All children have a range of Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) and as such have a joint health, care and education plan (EHC) or are moving through this statutory process.

There are children with a combination of SEND, which could range from Physical Difficulties (PD), Hearing Impairment (HI), Visual Impairment (VI), Multi-sensory Impairment (MSI) Autism (ASD), Moderate learning Difficulties (MLD), Profound and Multiple learning Difficulties (PMLD), Severe learning difficulties (SLD) and associated behavioural difficulties and complex health needs,

All classes are fully inclusive and are determined by children’s individual level of need and circumstances as opposed to age groupings/Key stages. The school has high levels of expectations for all children and aims to fully extend their academic and social development alongside overcoming many of the challenges that our young people face daily. High levels of staffing and individualised learning programmes ensure both the learning and social needs of each child are met within their class team, alongside their physical requirements, access to learning needs, health requirements, personal care and PSHE/wellbeing/key working support.
